We handle injury claims. There is no fee to speak with us, and no fee unless we recover something for you. Shook Law PC is the law firm you would retain.
Call nowCase types
What we handle
Car and truck collisions
Claims after a collision, including ones where the other driver's insurer has already called you.
Motorcycle and pedestrian
Claims where the injuries are usually worse and the fault argument is usually harder.
Premises
Injuries on someone else's property, where the question is what the owner knew and what they did about it.
Wrongful death
Claims brought by a family after someone has died. Who may bring one, and within what time, is set by statute.
Catastrophic injuries
Serious injuries with lasting effects on daily life, work, and care needs. We listen to you and your family and review the circumstances of the injury.
Elder care abuse and neglect
Injuries involving abuse or neglect in nursing homes and other care settings. We help families understand the next step when they are concerned about a loved one's care.
Medical negligence
Injuries involving medical care. A review of what happened and the available records helps determine whether a claim may be appropriate.
Fees
How we are paid
We are paid a percentage of what we recover for you, agreed in writing before we start. If we recover nothing, you owe us no attorney's fee.
The fee
A percentage of what we recover. The percentage is written into the agreement you sign, and we explain it before you sign it. It can differ depending on how far the case goes.
Case costs are separate
Costs are not the same as the fee. Filing fees, records, experts, and depositions are spent as the case runs. We will tell you who advances them and what happens to them at the end.
If we lose
You owe no attorney's fee. Your agreement will say plainly whether you owe case costs, and we will go through that with you before you sign rather than after.
About
Why Misericordia
The name
Misericordia means mercy. The Archconfraternity of the Misericordia was founded in Florence in 1244 to carry the sick and the injured through the streets — the ancestor of ambulance service. The name is for what the work is about, and that is all it is.
How we help
We listen to what happened, review the circumstances of your injury, and help you understand the next step. The first conversation is free.
What we do not promise
We do not promise a result. No lawyer can. What a claim is worth depends on the injuries, the evidence, the insurance, and the law that applies.
